A Practice of Giving

Vivian here sharing thoughts on “giving.” At Stella, we have a regular practice of giving — through good times and bad. To local causes, and global causes. For people who we know and don’t know, who are in need close by or far away. It’s just part of the fabric of who we are as people, and who we are as a company.

Some companies have a “corporate giving program” because it’s good business. Some people have a personal tithing commitment because it’s the right thing to do. For us, it’s simply a spiritual practice. We are moved by humanity, moved by those in need, and grateful for what we have to share.

And this year, we are donating the largest amount ever to a charity event — $50,000 worth of merchandise to Divine Design, alongside designers such as Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Tom Ford, Trina Turk, etc. (that’s about 265 pounds of designer clothing, in case you are curious).

Over 4 days, shoppers can shop a huge variety of designer merchandise, and every dollar spent helps Project Angel Food feed and nourish seriously ill and disadvantaged people throughout Los Angeles County.

And that’s pretty cool.

So after Thanksgiving, Stella, Emily & I will fly down to LA for the red carpet Grand Opening Night event, meet up with Amy our superstar model, flirt with the press, dawdle and sip champagne with the celebrities, and rock our Stella styles.

OH and BTW, it’s also Stella’s birthday that weekend, so guess who will be out prowling ’bout town?? The GIRRRRRRLS!! Be afraid. Be seriously afraid. (I have already warned Stella that we WILL be taking photos and I WILL be blogging about our trip, so we hope she is NOT on her best behavior or it will kill my blog!)

Ciao for now, and stay tuned…
